St. Thomas Mass Intention GuidelinesEffective 9/5/24
The practice of requesting a Mass to be offered for loved ones, living or deceased, is a beautiful and meaningful part of our Catholic tradition. St. Thomas the Apostle has a limited number of Mass intention opportunities per calendar year. The following guidelines have been implemented in order to accommodate the numerous requests in a reasonable, fair and timely manner.
Each Mass will have one Mass intention.
Each family may request up to 4 Mass intentions per year, and only 1 per month.
Types of intentions accepted: for the intentions of a person or a group of people (living), for the healing of a person, or for the repose of a person’s or a group of people’s souls (deceased).
Mass intention requests will only be accepted during the designated open request period, with a limited amount of masses available. When the calendar is more than ¾ full, Mass intention requests may close. The office will not hold on to or wait list requests when Mass intention requests are closed.
Requests will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis in the order in which the request is received at the Parish Office with preference given to in-person requests during office hours.
Mass requests will be scheduled as close to the requested date as possible, if it is not possible to comply with the request, the next closest available date and time will be scheduled.

One Mass every weekend must be scheduled for the intentions of the parishioners known as “Pro Populo” (For the People of the Parish) as required by Canon Law.
SPECIAL DAYS: Holy Days of Obligation, Holy Thursday, Easter, and Christmas: at least one intention will be for “For the People”;
Mother’s Day: at least one intention will be “All mothers of the parish, living and deceased”;
Father’s Day: at least one intention will be “All the fathers of the parish, living and deceased”;
All Souls’ Day (November 2): at least one intention will be “All the faithful departed”.
In the event that a Mass is canceled, the intention for the Mass will be rescheduled.
